focuses on the combined use of optical, thermal and microwave (SAR) data for
estimation of crop water needs. The main task in this project is to implement and
test a robust evapotranspiration algorithm for optimization of irrigation
systems based on multi waveband satellite data.
One of the
very important parameters when monitoring crops is evapotranspiration.
Evapotranspiration can be used to give a measure of the water stress which affects
health of the plants and it is needed when modelling the water balance. Using ET
together with other parameters a model can be set up to estimate how much, when
and where to irrigate the crops in order to obtaining maximum crop yield and
will be part of the MOIST project, funded by the Danish Innovation Fund.
