Motivation: The important
consumption of bottled water burdens our planet with billions of single-use, oil-based
plastic bottles and a carbon footprint 900 times that of tap water (DTU Environment
2013). In line with UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible
Consumption and Production, a Danish company, Basewater, wants to build a more
sustainable, circular eco-system for the distribution of portable drinking water
across Europe and abroad. Basewater, will do so by installing our specially
designed water dispensers in service retail, where consumers can buy
value-added local tap water
on the go. Basewater have
recently received a grant from Innovation Fund Denmark to realize a first
prototype of this dispenser. For this purpose, Basewater has suggested this
bachelor project, preferably, running during the spring semester of 2021
