This project will evaluate the CryoSat-2 inland water height dataset over the Zambezi River. A detailed multi-temporal water mask will be prepared from Sentinel-1 SAR data. CryoSat-2 water returns will be extracted by the mask and assembled into time series and river profiles. The value of the data for water resources management applications will be evaluated.
The software environment will be QGIS and Python. You will learn GIS techniques, Python programming and radar altimetry and SAR techniques.
