is the study of the motion of fluids in small structures (<1mm) as well as
of the substances carried by the flow. We will characterize the dynamics of the
fluids within a specific structure optimised for flow mixing and flow
redirection. The final aim of the project is fast detection of low-level
bio-molecules within a thin channel.
student will be involved in one or more of the following:
Fabrication of the design of the microfluidic channel (@DTU Nanolab). The student will be
trained on basic cleanroom processes and apply them to fabricate and inspect
the device: photolithography, dry etching, scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
Microfluidics experiments: The
student will test the device for
functionality and characterize the flow through the structure. As well, the
student will compare the results with simulated values.
Silicon fabrication, microfluidics, fluid dynamics
