Imaging and spectroscopy of
matter using electron beams offer unprecedented insight into structural dynamics
and functionalities at the atomic-scale. Intense energetic beams are however
needed to capture signals from tiny clusters, molecules and single atoms and in
turn perturbs the structures under investigations. To circumvent this challenge
we have installed ultra-high sensitive and high-speed cameras capable of
detecting single electrons at the time and develop measurement strategies to
limit the electron budget for atomic-resolution imaging.
Your task will be to contribute
to these efforts by investigating noise statistics in the measurements and
develop noise management strategies.
