Project:

- Design and build an ‘all sky’ linse based on original mirrors.

- Find a sensitive and suitable camera/CCD-chip that can measure stars and northern light.

- Make a program to control the camera for automatic acquiring of the pictures.
- Detect northern light on Pictures.
- Use the pictures/video to show the night sky, and convolve/normalize the ‘fish eye’ picture to a flat image, so it is possible to place the northern light/find the direction.
- Build a protection dome with heating.
- The camera will be tested in Brorfelde, and if it is a success, it may be placed in Ilulissat at the Northern Light Center.

Background:

20-40 years ago 10-15 ‘All sky’ cameras was setup in Greenland as a recearch project. They were based on a Hasselblad camera that took pictures during the night. We have saved two sets of mirrors from these old instruments, and we want to make a similar setup to verify the old pictures.

You:

- Interests in geomagnetism, northern light and cameras

- good programming skills

- Good at 3D-printing
