Heat pumps are important in a transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy - eg. in large buildings outside district heating areas.
The internal heating systems in the buildings are commissioned for the high temperatures of fossil fuel fired boilers while different parts of the building may have different lower supply temperatures optimised for each part of the building.
As heat pumps are most effective at low supply temperatures the optimal there may be large savings of changing supply strategy for the overall building with an integrated optimisation of the internal heating system of the building and the heat pumps.
The project will model a school building and develop an optimal control strategy using the model, data from the building control system and additional heat and energy sensors from NorthQ.
