Background

Danisense proprietary Flux-gate DCCT technology is based on a closed core flux gate detector wound on soft magnetic material. DCCT Main Control Module (MCM) consists of analog circuitry for exciting and sensing the Flux-gate detector, as well as measuring the induced voltage on the AC feedback winding and driving the compensation winding. While the latter functions operate in a wide frequency range, the operation of Flux-gate detector is limited to low frequencies and is clocked similar to a digital system already today. We can see some advantages in making the FG circuitry fully digital by introducing a microcontroller and for the motivated student this is an excellent opportunity to materialize some of these ideas while learning a lot about the DC current transducer technology.

 

Objective

You start by learning the principles of Danisense proprietary Zero-flux Flux-gate DCCT technology and finding out how its building principles positively affect the transducer performance with respect to accuracy, drift, immunity against external magnetic fields etc. With this background in mind you brainstorm together with Danisense R&D team on the advantages of moving some of the existing MCM functions entirely into digital domain. You will also address all new possibilities and advanced functionalities becoming possible once a digital microcontroller is mounted on-board the MCM. You develop, build and test a prototype MCM to benchmark the performance against state-of-the-art Danisense products.

Forudsætninger

University students with background in electrical engineering in their final semester, having the necessary knowledge and interest in magnetics and signal processing by electronics.
