Remote control of HVAC systems in large office building

Building automation systems (BAS) are designed to operate the building and the services to achieve the best indoor climate with lowest energy usage. To achieve this goal, a deep understanding of building service systems and building physics is necessary. But BAS implementations are often rudimentary and non-dynamic. Thus, to create a semi-dynamic building operation control system, the BAS demand-response actions have to be adjusted manually and continuously. This project uses the MQTT data transfer protocol which is developed for IoT applications to establish a remote link to the building service systems in a large office building in Copenhagen. With the remote link, the project will create building models that 1) mimick the building performance and control it remotely and 2) propose and test different operation scenarios e.g. based on weather forecast, or price signals. The project includes working with the DTU Byg Cloud, API's and some (python) coding.
