Project description

The project aim is to look for suitable liquid agents in which dry particles can be suspended and remain unaffected. The aim is also to find agents which can dilute solid particles, which are already in suspension such as a slurry. It is not necessary for the agent to be identical to the liquid in the slurry, but that the agent will mix well with the slurry liquid and doesn’t affect the solid particles in any way.

Is it possible to find an agent which is as universal as possible to do the job e.g. for a group of solids with similar chemistry? Another important factor for the agents is that they are readily available and cheap.

 

The particles of interest are crystal products in the pharma, food, and bio industry. A further specification of exact solid types to be considered will be decided upon once the project begins.

 

The purpose of finding suitable diluents for solids is to create a suspension with the right concentration of the particles of interest. This enables to perform image analysis with our technology at ParticleTech where the particles should not overlap for the image to be segmented properly.

 

Requirements

-          Good knowledge of process design and analysis

-          Interest for hand-on experience and combined experimental modeling work

-          Familiarity with bio-based and pharmaceutical processes is a plus
