The aim of the special course is to 1) compile information from daily operations to serve as guidelines for fish farm technicians, 2) compile information from daily usage of Aquarate’s software to serve as guidelines for users 3) process, design and create the guidelines, 4) develop a strategy for implementation of the guidelines in Aquarate’s software in a user friendly manner.

The course represents an opportunity for the student to get in-detail, first hand knowledge from daily RAS operations. They will be able to understand how the different parts of a RAS system, including the human component, are integrated in order to have a functional production system. Moreover, they will develop guidelines, based on expert interviews and potential visit to sites, that address also recurring problems, challenges and doubts that fish farm staff encounters. Overall, the student will obtain holistic, detailed knowledge about RAS farm operation, as well as learn to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines based on it. Finally, the student will also be part of the design of a strategy for implementation of the produced documentation into a commercially available software.

This course will require the student to be knoweldgeable in aquaculture and in RAS, be able to interview danish and/or norwegian fish farmers, conduct thorough literature research and generate all the relevant documentation. The student will be asked to participate in the development of an implementation strategy.
