Our ability to rewire cellular metabolism for the sustainable production of chemicals based on microbial cell factories has advanced rapidly during the last two decades.
The speed and precision by which microbial genomes can be engineered now allow for more advanced designs to be implemented and tested. However, the methods developed for testing the performance of newly engineered cell factories are lagging far behind, which consequently impacts the overall bio-manufacturing process.

At Synthetic Biology Tools for Yeast (SBTY), among other things, we engineer protein-based biosensors to be employed in yeast cell factories in order to improve the screening of best performing strain designs.

At SBTY you will learn:
  • Flow cytometry/cell sorting
  • Advanced molecular biology techniques
  • Protein engineering
  • HPLC analysis
