Evolution of Northern Greenland ice caps and glaciers

Greater Copenhagen area

The glaciers and ice caps in the northernmost corner of Greenland have responded to climate change in unexpected ways in the past. This project will investigate Hagen and Academy glaciers and the area around Independence Fjord. Using ice-flow models and satellite observations, the past and present behaviour of the area can be studied and the project will address questions such as: What was the past ice extent? What triggered the observed retreat? What is the future of the area?
