Strong permanent magnets of the type NdFeB are used in a wide range of applications. Often a specific shape is desired for a given application. Being able to produce custom magnets by 3D printing would be a significant step towards improving applications and saving on the costly magnet material.

Your task would be to develop the technology of printing with filaments of polymer material containing NdFeB particles. The aim would be to produce custom parts according to design specifications. The project would consist of experimental lab work oriented at finding the optimal printing parameters and optimal packing of particles. You will learn to operate and program a 3D printer and to design parts in 3D CAD software.
