A Holographic switch for hospitals

Hospitals are public places where a large number of people in a rather limited space share common facilities. Patients, clinical staff and visitors can all become potential carriers of biological hazards simply by touching a door handle or pressing a button in the elevator.

In this project we intend to develop and demonstrate a non-contact switch for electrical devices. The switching device generates a holography of a press-bottom. As the users finger intersects the virtual image the switching device can produce a suitable trigger signal from light backscattered by the finger.
