Programming of a smart ventilation controller using an IDE in an industrial research project

The Room-Vent Solutions project (https://energiteknologi.dk/node/8717) has installed innovative decentralised ventilation systems in eleven renovated apartments. The system adjusts airflows to each room according to measurements of temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide and noise. 

The project has installed a cellular-connected control device in each apartment to regulate fan speeds and log data to the cloud (RTCU DX4i pro mk2 from Logic IO; http://www.logicio.com/rtcu_products.htm). In four apartments, the device should receive data via Modbus (RS-485) from smart single-room ventilation units with innovative controls for logging purposes. In four other apartments, the device sends control signals (0-10V) to the fans in the manifold to control ventilation.

In this project, you would program the devices using the IDE and SDK for VPL, which is a similar language to Pascal and Basic but is especially well suited to M2M applications. Your first program would send data (composed of 240 data sets) to a cloud portal to log data. Your second program would relay control signals from a cloud platform to the individual fans in the manifold. 

Logic IO would provide code samples and programming support (http://www.logicio.com/download_files.htm & http://www.logicio.com/HTML/index.html). 

NorthQ (https://www.northq.com/) is a project partner and would help you to establish the connection to their Cloud platform in both cases. 

Other project partners include ebm-papst (https://www.ebmpapst.com/en/), who prototyped the manifold, and Sustain Solutions, who manufactures the Breathe55 (http://www.sustainsolutions.dk/ventilation-shop/breathe-55.html).

You would need a co-supervisor from DTU Compute to provide programming support, while DTU Civil Engineering would provide the demonstration case and all other practical support for realising the solution.
