Modelling of the properties of salt solutions

Salt solutions appear in many processes. It is therefore important to understand the properties of these solutions. Properties such as salt solubility, activity coefficients, and heat of mixing is modeled using the Extended UNIQUAC model for electrolytes. The activity coefficient model contains parameters that can be determined from experimental data.

In this project, model parameters are determined for a system for which parameters did not previously exist. Experimental data for the chosen system will be found in the literature, some data might already be available in our data bank. The experimental data from different sources will be analyzed and checked for consistency. The experimental data are used for determining parameters in the Extended UNIQUAC model for electrolytes. Calculations based on the determined parameters will be carried out in order to compare the calculated results with the experimental data.
