Fisheries Ecology Ecophysiology Collaborative Group Masters Projects with Individual Results

The results of this growth trial of juvenile fish will provide a mechanistic understanding of what the environmental drivers of growth and production are.  This deeper understanding will re-inforce field observations and support fish habitat mapping for ecosystem based marine management.

The overall approach is that 2-5 students will work closely together to run a laboratory controlled growth experiment then share the diverse data produced to answer different questions about the productivity of juvenile fish habitats.

The projects are suited to masters students who are currently completing coursework but looking to organise their master’s thesis project for late summer / autumn of 2020.  There are four possible project ideas pre-planned but we are open to different suggestions. 

This project is adequately funded for both equipment and technical support and successful applicants will gain specific skills and experience in fish sampling, handling and experimental design.
