Disease modelling - from experiments to parameters

Controlled lab experiments with infections diseases are often used to provide data for estimation of parameters related to the development and spread of disease. These parameters are then to be used in simulation models describing more realistic settings.

One example is African Swine Fever (ASF) that arrived in Poland from the East. And it is not under control.

Recent experiments provide more detailed data so that the number of copies of viruses is recorded rather than just positive or negative. The challenge is how to make a better model that takes this knowledge into account.
