Tracking Greenland glaciers using time lapse photos

 Starting in 2007, several cameras were established in Greenland ‘watching’ marine terminating glaciers as part of The Extreme Ice Survey (http://extremeicesurvey.org/team-eis/) featured in the film Chasing Ice.  

The cameras were installed and maintained in part by the work of GEUS scientists. Recently, software has been developed in Denmark to measure ice motion from repeat photos (http://imgraft.glaciology.net/). 

This project would evaluate the sensitivity of Greenland glacier motion to a variety of factors including surface melting; ocean tides; the effect of large ice bergs breaking off; formation and disintegration of sea ice; etc.
