Super resolution microscopy of DNA barcodes

This project is about reading fluorescence barcodes on DNA molecules with optical microscopy beyond the diffraction limit.

We have shown that genomic information can be obtained from single DNA molecules (mm in length) imaged using fluorescence microscopy in a nanofluidic device [1].

In principle, the fluorescence barcode has features beyond what can be resolved with our current microscope. We thus want to image those features using a home build super resolution microscope.

In this project you will learn to perform a single molecule nanofluidics experiment, perform fluorescence microscopy including optimizing a home build super resolution microscope.
