Daylight quality in residential building and shading devices a simulation-based evaluation on daylight performance measures

In this projects, a series of well-selected solar shading devices are going to be simulated as close as possible to the real devices. The devices optical properties are going to be obtained through existing databases or measurements. Ideally, effect of several external and internal parameters such as materials, furniture, outdoor vegetation and urban density on the shading devices’ daylight performance are going to be evaluated. The buildings are selected from residential buildings types in Denmark between 1930-1970.  The students will learn about daylighting and different simulation tools available for lighting rendering and daylight performance metrics. They will get an in depth understanding of daylighting and how to integrate solar shadings for sustainable buildings
