Ozonation of pesticide polluted ground water

The aim of this project is to investigate ozonation of pesticide in pump-and-treat remediation.

In the past, Many places have been unintentionally polluted with tetrachloroethene (PCE) or trichloroethene (TCE). In soil, they are biodegraded to dichloroethene and vinylchloride. The pollutions are a threat to the ground water. Therefore, pump and treat remediation is used at some locations to remove the pollution. The treatment of the polluted water could be ozonation and sorption to activated carbon. However, often there is not only found chlororethenes in the water but also a range of pesticide it is found. To be able to design the ozone treatment, knowledge about ozonation of pesticides is needed

Requirements

Students should preferably have basic experience with experimental work
