Vision-based Navigation for UAVs

Navigation with Autonomous UAVs is a challenging task. Most UAVs relies on a GPS receiver, but in certain environments this sensor could give large position errors or complety fail. As a consequence hereof additional navigation sensors are needed.

In this project the student should implement and analyse a Visual Odometry system for use with UAVs. The system could consist of either one or two downward facing cameras.

The elements of project can be adjusted depending of the number of course credits, personal interest and technical background.


Requirements

The student should have a basic understanding of fundamental Image Analysis and Processing.
