Cloud cover and precipitation over the Greenland ice sheet

Measurements of longwave/infrared radiation and temperature from the Greenland ice sheet give decent estimates of cloud cover, which is an important climate variable. But does the same relation hold for the entire ice sheet? And can this data perhaps be used to give a rough estimate of accumulation – an even more important climate variable in Greenland? Use the PROMICE weather station data to find out. 

You findings can lead to a permanent improvement of the PROMICE data product that people across the world use for their research.
