In-situ observation of critical opening displacement for initiation of crack growth in composites and adhesives joints

High-magnifications images of the crack tip displacement will be recorded in-situ by the use of fracture mechanics experiments conducted in the vacuum chamber of an environmental scanning electron microscope using miniaturized fracture mechanics test specimens and loading devices.
