High Voltage Cables - Development of a methodology for setup and verification of simplified Dynamic Line Rating models

Energinet has performed years worth of research and development of Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) methods in order for optimising the operation of the Danish transmission grid. This effort is expected to lead to the commisioning of a DLR environment in 2018.

This project is to develop methods for setting up the simplified models, which will be used int the operational environment, in a way that resemble the complex 3D geometry of the real world. Furthermore a method for performance assessment of all models is to be developed.

The results of the project will in this way be directly implemented in the operation of the Danish transmission system, and it is expected that the project in this way can contribute to millions of euros of savings.
