Absolute distance measurement by speckle correlation

A rough surface scatters a structured coherent illumination. The corresponding far field (a speckle pattern) reveals information about the absolute distance between the surface and the observer. In this project we aim at using a newly perceived concept for measuring absolute distance with a robust, low-cost, miniaturized optical system.
