Design of Ecosystem Services

Interdisciplinary design project, DTU Aqua and DTU Civil Engineering.

The Rising sea levels pose a challenge for Denmark – we will need to build dams and dikes.  However, it is also possible to combine these investments with new recreational opportunities as well as new opportunities for seafood production. This project inquires the space of solution for combining climate change adaptation with recreational and sea food production values.

Apart from dams and dikes it is also possible to prevent part of the negative effect of altered sea levels by shaping the seafloor and adjusting aquatic flows. In combination with artificial islands this field of engineering has great potential for offering solutions to societal challenges.

The project will be co-supervised by DTU civil engineering and DTU Aqua.
