Material Flow Analysis (MFA) of waste collected at recycling stations

Recycling stations could significantly contribute to resource recovery towards the achievement of the recycling targets. However, data on amounts, composition and flows of waste handled at recycling stations is rather limited, so that it is currently not possible to assess whether recycling centres are an effective part of the existing waste management system in Denmark.
This project thus aims at covering this data gap. It involves different activities, including data collection, data treatment, as well as gathering of information about the fate of waste after recycling stations. The project involves close collaboration with some of the major waste companies in Denmark, as well as with remanufactures of secondary materials.
