National Oilwell Varco (NOV) delivers flexible pipe systems to the offshore oil and gas industry as well as the chemical & water industry worldwide, and provides complete solutions to their customers including oil companies and the contracting industry. NOV’s flexible pipes offer state-of-the-art technology within the safe and reliable handling of oil and gas.

NOV and DTU have entered into a joint research project on new ways to ensure the quality and performance of flexible oil pipes, based on contactless terahertz (THz) time-of-flight imaging. We offer an exciting Master project within this topic, with the aim of investigating noncontact methods for control and imaging of the internal structure of flexible pipe insulation and protection layers. We are especially interested in finding methods for the determination and localization of water penetration into the structures.
