Project on multimodality data Predictive maintenance of turnouts

Turnouts help railway trains to be guided from one track to another, but the turnouts are generally a weak spot in the infrastructure of the railway network. Banedanmark has detailed information regarding the train passage through the turnouts, repair of the turnouts and the state of the turnouts is monitored with a track recording car. The track recording car monitors several modalities as a) the track geometry, b) pictures from the rails and c) sounds from the wheels of the track recording car. All this information can be used to predict the future state of the turnout’s quality and early problem detection can prevent more severe problems by early repair.
