Determination of friction and debond energy of the fibrematrix interface using the single fibre fragmentation test

The mechanical properties of the fibre/matrix interface controls the overall properties (e.g. strength, toughness) of a fibre composite. The aim of this project is to establish a test procedure for the analysis of single fibre fragmentation tests using an established theoretical model and to apply the approach to test specimens having different fibre/matrix sizings to assess their mechanical properties.
