Assessment of integrated water quality based control strategies for urban wastewater systems. the Lynetten case study

Integrated control of wastewater systems (sewer + treatment plants) is becoming increasingly attractive due to its cost-effectiveness. The majority of control strategies are focusing on optimization of water quantity variables (CSO volumes, flow). However, water-quality based control strategies have been shown to be more effective in reducing the impact of urban wastewater systems to the natural water environment. This projects aims at expanding previous modelling studies carried out in the Lynetten catchment (Copenhagen) by utilizing a conceptual sewer water quality model (implemented in the WEST software) to quantify environmental benefits in terms of e.g. reduced pollutant loads. The project require a knowledge of the WEST software and of Matlab
