Interfacial tension modeling with thermodynamic models

Interfacial tension modeling plays an important role in many industries, e.g. petroleum, chemical, material science and life science, etc., as long as more than one phase exists. In the past years, different approaches have been developed to model interfacial tension of various systems. We have also proposed and implemented general modeling approaches for interfacial tension, which are mainly based on the density gradient theory. Within this theory, the same equation of state thermodynamic model can be used for both phase equilibria and interfacial tension, in which way the thermodynamic consistency is obtained. The purpose of this work will be: (1) to build an interfacial tension database covering various complex multicomponent systems; and (2) to systematically model the interfacial tension with empirical methods as well as the density gradient theory based method combined with the advanced thermodynamic models. The density gradient theory modeling approach is available via a user friendly MATLAB interface, while the empirical methods should be implemented in this work.
