Migration of chemical contaminants from packaging material into food

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are a group of man-made chemicals that includes PFOA, PFOS. Both chemicals are very persistent in the environment and in the human body – meaning they don’t break down and they can accumulate over time.

The prevalence of PFAS in food packaging material demonstrated their potentially significant contribution to dietary PFAS exposure.

This project aims to investigate the migration of PFOA and PFOS from muffin cases into muffins and how it is related to various parameters such as temperature, water content, etc.

Requirements

Looking for a bachelor/masters project. You enjoy experimental work and data analysis. You want to contribute to further understanding about food packaging materials and their associated safety issues
