Printing of three-dimensional food objects is a novel technology that offers the possibility to create new foodstuffs with new designs, functionalities and formulations. Although nowadays 3D printing of plastic is a relatively mastered technique, the use of food materials as printing ink is much more challenging, since besides the usual texture and flavour requirements of traditionally processed food, its formulation must be such that it allows the structure to remain stable after printing. Alternatively, the stability can be achieved by post-processing the structure.

The Food Production Engineering and the Nano-Bio Science research group welcomes students that want to carry out their MSc thesis on this topic. The work may be experimental, theoretical or preferably, a combination of both.
