Bioaugmentation of long-term preserved ammonia tolerant inocula in biogas reactors

The aim of the current project is to assess and optimize the use of the long-term preserved ammonia tolerant consortia as bioaugmentation inocula in batch and continuous anaerobic reactors . To fulfil this aim two experiments will be performed. First, one batch reactor experiment, where different volumes and cell concentrations of the gel preserved inocula we will be tested to find the best process recovery characteristics. Second, three CSTR (continuous stirred tank reactors) reactors, suffer from ammonia toxicity, will be used to apply and optimise the novel bioaugmentation strategy for long-term preserved, ammonia tolerant methanogenic consortia.
