The first galaxies discovered by the James Webb Space Telescope

With the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) it will, for the first time, be possible to detect the formation and evolution of the first galaxies formed after Big Bang.

Following the plan JWST will be launched in late - 2018. DTU Space has been involved in the Mid Infra Instrument (MIRI) onboard JWST. With this instrument we will be able to analyze in detail the stellar populations in these galaxies and thereby gain information about how they have been formed and how they have developed.

The project will be to simulate the performance of the  MIRI Imager e.g. sensitivity, confusion for different filters, an important part of our preparation.
