Nanofluidic arrays of single molecules and particles

Nanofluidics is a technology that enables to array and manipulate single molecules and supramolecular assemblies like lipid vesicles. In experiments, nanofluidics is combined with fluorescence microscopy. Recently we worked with genomic DNA, as a physical object [1,2] but also as the carrier for the genetic code [3]. Working with experimental nanofluidics gives the opportunity to investigate biophysics and/or pursue technological goals with applications in life science.

This project is an interdisciplinary project based on experimental work with nanofluidics devices and single molecule fluorescence microscopy. In particular, you will start doing simple experiments to get trained in microscopy and nanofluidics using existing nanofluidics devices. From there, the project is very open and you will define your experimental work and hypothesis with your supervisor. You will be supervised in working with single molecule fluorescence microscopy, micro and nanofluidics experimental work and data analysis based on image analysis.
