CFD study on roughness on ships

Roughness resistance of ships due to coating or biofouling can significantly increase the ship resistance.
Often the roughness resistance is estimated based on empirical formulas.

The proposed study will investigate how the roughness resistance can be estimated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The used CFD software could be STAR-CCM+.
